
BardNotes creates and / or acquires initial musical cells from a variety of sources. These include doodling on manuscript paper and / or traditional instruments. These cells are then extended, transformed and generally mangled by the use of the ABC Musical Notation Language and a series of bespoke Visual Studio Basic programmes and spreadsheets.
This provides plenty of materials which can either suggest a structure for the piece and / or used to populate a pre-determined structure.
Bitter experinece has shown that patience is required since 99% of the mangulations will be twaddle. However, the remaining 1% can usefully be used and input into the programmes and spreadsheets once again. Slowly the amount of usable and interesting musical materials increases… .
